A Talkshow

Agnihotra is a famous marathi daily which is aired at 9 PM on weekdays. On the occassion of it completing its 150 episodes Star Pravaha had organised a talk with its directors & few of the actors at P L Deshpande Sabhagruha Vile Parle (E) at 7 PM on 13th June 2009. And this is where I got my first glimpse of the Satish Rajwade, the genuis behind many hits & commendable record breakers like Mrugjal, Oon Paus, Asambhav, Ek Daav Dhobipachad, Agnihotra, etc. I had planned on reaching the hall early so that i would be able to catch a good place to watch the show. However when I arrived I was surprised to find Satish Sir already present there. My friends & me worked up some courage to go & introduce ourselves. As the show was yet to begin we were able to catch him early & avoid all the crowd that caught up with him as soon as the show was over.

Till date I have always over estimated people whom I havent met. The actual meetings have ranged from shock to disappointments to sometimes even disgust at being naive enough to go on face values. Fortunately for me Satish Sir proved everything I had imagined him to be from my limited interaction via orkut, AWSR, facebook, et al. What struck me foremost was his simplicity in dress & style. It felt good to see a STAR in jeans and a tee. To see him arive not just on but before time was another amongst many pleasant shocks. After working up some courage we approached him for an autograph. Shreya also asked him for a picture....[not me!!!] I was still too star struck to speak anything so coherent! The place we initially stood at was too bright & the picture wouldn't have turned out as well as it did later when we shifted on Sir's request. Was struck by his caring once again that he bothered that his fans got a good pic when they had come all the way to Parle to just meet him. Many others in his place & his position in life wouldn't have bothered. Later he went on to enquire after Ruchi & asked us to convey his regards to her. This man's down -to- earth attitude seemed to have no end. It was also evident when he posed with a sweet smile for a kid who had been trying to get his attention for a good snap. And all this while being on stage!!! His patience & politeness were evident when he instructed various audience members who had stood up to speak about handling the mike properly. Ever the diplomatic capricornian he was quick to field off "Agnihotra cha Asambhav hou deu naka" from an audience member with a "I will try" & a smile. All in all going through the never ending queue at the ticket counter, the crowded local, the walk across 2 platforms & the stiffling heat & sweat didnt go waste. Our efforts were rewarded & in what a fab way!!! Thanx Sir

I am not forgetting yesterdays evening anytime soon!!!
